Good Old Soul, Baden (Vienna)

Not many of us have a Model A in our parlour, so this uniquely furnished barbers has already got our attention. Run by Florian and Mara since 2018 the hot-rod-couple really went to town on this place and the passion they have for their work shows in every loving detail. The ‘blood & bandages’ pole is from the 1930s, while the late 19th century Koken chair was located by the pair in Chicago. It’s ironic that the man who invented the hydraulic cutter’s chair (Mr Koken) was born in neighbouring Germany, but made his fortune in the USA. Looking like a front for a prohibition-era speakeasy from the Windy City, a haircut in Baden is no longer a wasted half hour but a visual experience. Check out their Instagram page and you’ll see the quality of the cuts. Impressive. The music is good too!
