Manifattura Ceccarelli (Italy): Product Review

Since the post-war period, Italy has developed the world’s most sophisticated textiles industry in every area of production. The leatherworkers of Santa Croce, the weavers and knitters of Prato, the silk producers of Biella and the garment manufacturers of Emilia Romagna – to name just a few. In the centre of the historical region of Romagna, in the town of Forli, you find the HQ of master outerwear makers Manifattura Ceccarelli. Although the Italian industry is vast, many brands still work out of a traditional atelier with a handful of highly skilled technicians, cutters and machinists (often going back generations), and that’s the set-up at the brand we see here. Started by Giuliano Ceccarelli in 1998, this company produces genuinely original items that lead the pack rather than follow. Pictured is the classic Alligator Jacket in cotton corduroy with 100% virgin wool quilted wadding. A stylish mixture of Japanese sensibilities with American functionality – but all made in Italy.
